Crescent Beach is located just south of the mouth of the 'Nicomekl', where a bend in the river estuary reveals a marina with hundreds of boats. It's history goes back to the early 1900's. Walk along the ocean front path and experience a sense of peace. It's a wonderful place to collect shells and see birds, possibly coming across an occasional crab. The back lanes and streets have rustic log houses, beach front cottages and heritage homes nested amongst mature trees. Nearby there is the nature preserve of 'Blackie's Spit' which hosts dozens of species of resident and migratory birds, which may be observed from natural blinds atop the surrounding dyke's trails. Crescent United Church was formed in 1922, making it part of this community early in its beginning. |
