After we've been in a group for a long time we tend to forget what it was like when we first came through the doors for the first time.  We even make the assumption that people we've met a few times actually remember our names, even though they were probably overwhelmed by trying to sort out a dozen other faces and names at the same time. 

Then there are those of us who simply can't remember names until we've heard it a few times.  We remember the face, but not the name and after a couple of times of saying hello, we simply don't have the courage to ask for a name.
